Maja Rueger is a medical doctor, psychotherapist and coach of the integrative psychodynamic orientation, and a specialist in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, with more than 15 years of experience working with clients in both private and professional contexts.
Her professional path has developed in parallel across medicine and psychological work with people. Years of experience in the medical industry and clinical trials have given her a clear understanding of the pressures, responsibilities and dynamics of such environments, which is why many of her clients come from these sectors.
Her therapeutic orientation is grounded in depth psychology, with a strong focus on integrating knowledge from different fields – medicine, neuroscience and psychology. She approaches each person as a whole, where physical, psychological and social aspects cannot be separated.
She holds national and European licenses in psychotherapy and coaching. Her status as a specialist in psychoanalytic psychotherapy is based on extensive training, long-term practice and continuous work with clients over many years.
In addition to her primary training, she has completed numerous additional educations in psychosomatics, neuroscience, lifestyle medicine, emotional regulation, anxiety, relationships, sexuality and work with specific clinical and developmental issues.
She has extensive experience in individual work, as well as in leading trainings and group processes. She works primarily online with clients from different countries and professional backgrounds.
She is the author and facilitator of several accredited programs, including assertive communication, relationships and mature love, as well as work with women in (peri)menopause.
In her work, she integrates medicine, psychoanalysis and coaching as a way of supporting deeper and lasting change. In recent years, she has been particularly focused on working with women in (peri)menopause – a period that often brings complex psychological and physical changes, but also significant potential for transformation.
Clients usually reach out at a point when their previous ways of understanding and functioning stop working for them. There is often a sense of inner stagnation, exhaustion or a growing awareness that something needs to change, but without a clear idea of where to begin.
They are typically people used to responsibility, analytical thinking and a high level of independence. Because of that, it is not easy for them to slow down and take a closer look at what is actually happening beneath the surface. Many come from corporate and highly demanding environments, dealing with constant pressure and internal conflicts between professional roles and personal needs.
The women she works with are often going through periods of significant personal transition, including (peri)menopause, where physical, emotional and identity-related processes become more complex and intertwined. In this context, particular attention is given to the connection between hormonal, bodily and psychological changes, which are often overlooked or misunderstood.
Clients seek support for anxiety, chronic stress, psychosomatic symptoms, relationship and sexual difficulties, as well as a sense of inner misalignment, loss of direction or recurring patterns that do not change despite insight and effort. Many of them are emotionally exhausted and going through identity shifts or important life transitions.
Her approach is integrative and depth-oriented – focused not only on symptoms, but on the underlying patterns that shape and maintain them. Psychological and bodily processes are considered together, so that clients can recognize what is happening beneath the surface.
This kind of work is particularly suited to people who are not looking for simplified answers, but for a serious and meaningful process.
Due to her experience of living and working across different countries, she has a strong sensitivity to intercultural dynamics and often works with clients going through relocation, adaptation and identity shifts.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I do not approach people through predefined frameworks. In my work, I combine medical and psychoanalytic knowledge with insight and a creative way of understanding complex situations, especially those that are not immediately visible.
My clients rarely need only support – they also need to be challenged, and to be accompanied through processes that are not simple.
Real change and turning points happen within a relationship built on trust and a deep level of understanding. Building that kind of relationship is not just about knowledge, but about a genuine and authentic interest in the person, something I establish from the very beginning.
I do not work at the level of the obvious. My focus is on what is not immediately visible, but shapes the way a person actually functions.
Client reviews
Dr Maja is absolutely great. The approach that she is practicing is fulfilling all my needs and is helping me understand myself better. What I like in particular is that the sessions include two-way conversations, which leads me to bring my own conclusions as well. I feel energized after every session with the feeling that I always learn something new. She is also very flexible, pleasant, and approachable. I highly recommend her.
