Ivana Gaćina is a certified Gestalt psychotherapist and a licensed therapist of the Serbian Association of Psychotherapists, with more than five years of experience providing psychotherapy. She completed a four-year training program in Gestalt psychotherapy and continues to deepen her professional development in working with adult clients and couples who are going through emotional difficulties, life crises, and important personal or relationship changes.
In her work, she uses the Gestalt psychotherapy approach, which focuses on developing awareness, understanding emotions and behavioral patterns, and exploring the ways clients experience themselves, their relationships, and their life circumstances. The therapeutic process is centered on the present moment and on the experience the client brings into the therapeutic relationship.
EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH
In individual therapy, she most often works with clients who are facing a sense of inner confusion, emotional exhaustion, or a loss of direction in life. Clients often reach out when they feel “stuck,” overwhelmed by emotions, or when they lack clarity in important life decisions.
Common themes in her work include:
anxiety (persistent worry, tension, and inner restlessness)
depressive moods and loss of motivation
feelings of being lost or a loss of meaning in life
major life transitions (career change, relocation, parenthood, menopause, new life roles)
divorce, relationship breakups, and the loss of a close person
intense grief and the grieving process
existential and spiritual questions
searching for personal identity and direction in life
In addition to individual therapy, she also works with couples who wish to better understand the dynamics of their relationship, improve communication, or find ways to deal with conflicts and crises within the partnership. In couples therapy, the focus is on exploring relational patterns, emotions, and needs that emerge within the relationship, as well as developing greater understanding and more authentic contact between partners.
The Gestalt approach she practices is based on experiential work and the development of awareness. Through the therapeutic process, clients explore their emotions, needs, and patterns of behavior, as well as the ways in which they may sometimes unconsciously limit their own growth or satisfaction in life.
Therapy can help clients develop greater emotional stability, a clearer understanding of their needs, and the ability to make decisions that are aligned with their values and authentic life direction.
In her work, it is important that clients feel safe, accepted, and free to talk about what truly matters to them. She believes that change occurs when a person is given the space to explore their emotions, experiences, and inner conflicts without judgment. She sees psychotherapy as a process through which clients gradually develop a deeper understanding of themselves and discover new ways to live more authentically and fully.
Kind regards,
Ivana Gaćina
